  • First Gen Broncos

I've picked up my modelling hobby recently, with the intent of entering a few builds into the MCMA Showdown in March. The theme kit is the new First Gen Bronco release from Revell. I need some inspiration. Not sure if I want to build a factory stock Bronco, or mod it. I thought about going off the beaten path and doing a road race type build in a gulf livery; though after getting my hands on the kit, I'm not sure which way I want to go...

I like that. It is definitely a contender!

Nailed it. The Steve Mizel ‘75 winner is good too.

Those air foil roofs are so cool.

This one was posted to a modelling group on facebook for inspiration. I kind of dig it.

Those baja builds are pretty sweet, however, with the other stuff I have trying to finish up for the show, they may be too tall of an order. I can't half ass them and feel like I did it justice!

In the movie Dazed and Confused, did the football coach drive an Early Bronco, or was it a Scout? If it was a bronco that would be an easy stock build. Then you could build the rest of the cars from the movie. The Chevelle, The Judge, white Firebird...

I haven't really had a chance to open the plastic yet and see how fit and finish is. I'm thinking it will be some sort of mild off road type build. Change the wheels and backspacing to give it a bit of an aggressive stance. Roll bar, and change the bumpers and add a winch. We will see what happens.

Color: Either a gunmetal color (magnetic maybe?) or white with a charcoal/gray grill. gloss black bumpers and wheels.

Move the tires out to give it an aggressive stance. Use some aluminum and PE goodies to give the suspension some dimension. Add a roll bar and call it done.

                    Bronco, '69, I think.

I just ordered some parts from Fireball modelworks:

Method Bead lock wheels and Wrangler tires

                      Fender flares

                      And some resin emblems

I found some Wild Strawberry Metallic paint hiding in my paint stash that I'm going to use. I will accent it with black fender flares, black roll cage, and I will build some bumpers for the front and back and paint them black.
