  • Will a GoPro work fine mounted to a bow?

For some reason I thought we had a hunting forum on here. Anyway, I'm considering mounting my GoPro to my bow, just below my hand. Is there any reason this won't work?

Yes, I'm going to do it and find out. Just wanted to see ahead of time this there's a better camera option for bows. I saw some other brand/style for sale at Cabela's but don't really want to buy another camera.

I'd think with one of those suction cup things it should work. Might add enough weight to make your aim off, no idea tho.

I'd be really cool if you could get a small camera and mount it to an arrow and shoot it and record that!

I have rigged up a cell phone holder and bracket off my stabilizer of my bow. Works really well. I would recommend shooting it a few times before putting it to work in the stand.

I've had go pros and it always seemed like I wouldn't get that shot because you couldn't see what your seeing while you're recording. I also had a tactacam that is pretty cool as it looks like a little flashlight and can come with a stabilizer that the camera slides into and screws into and you can watch what it's recording on your tablet or phone while it's recording. I got rid of it as it was just kind of odd to sit in the tree with a tablet and try and shoot something while watching your tablet and making sure everything is right before taking the shot. The cell phone mount seems to be the easiest for me to use and you can see in real time what you are recording without any other devices.

Not enough room for the suction cup. I had to use one of the stickie mounts. I'll take some practice shots tonight.

I thought about mounting to the stabilizer with the handle bar mount but figured it would affect the performance of the stabilizer.

GoPro makes a Sportsman mount meant for a bow stabilizer or rifle barrel. Or if you want a cheaper option, the GoPro handlebar mount can work also.
Just balance it well, practice with it, make sure it's always mounted in the same place, etc and you'll be fine.

If its good enough for Dudley, it would be good enough for me.

Don’t the new GoPros have the rear screen so you know what the camera is pointed at?

Some do, some don't. My Hero 4 does, and honestly I wouldn't buy one without since the phone apps suck ass. Same with DJI apps.
