I need to do some paint chip and scratch repair on a car for trade in. Can I use 3000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and a clear coat pin on a clear coat scratch with good results?

They sell little dobbers at paint shops that work well. Basically a plastic toothpick with cotton on the end, clean the area after prep with a light non oil thinner or rubbing alcohol. If you need to sand it and buff make sure the paint you are using is capable of it. I always do a test spot out of sight first on cars.

I used 2500 grit to level the touch-up blob. Then I used DA buffer to easily remove the sanding marks.
