  • HERE LATELY i'VE HAD BAD THOUGHTS.

So here lately I've been bitten by the idea of picking up a 65-66 mustang coupe and putting my spare 2.3t in it. I keep seeing rolling chasis for around $3k locally, and I literally have everything I need to do it but a driveshaft and the car.
My dad has a super clean 65 coupe that we've been working on for some time now, and I think it would be fun to park a bastard child twin to it at car shows and watch the Butthurt grow as people look from his to mine. I'm thinking flat hotrod red, and black bumpers. Set it unreasonably low, with deep dish 17" black steel wheels and rolled fenders. og and fender exit exhaust. I'd set it up to rev to the moon and make all the boost. Loud, nasty and dirty, kind of a General Mayhem version of a mustang before it got the hellcat swap. Won't be the fastest, most reliable, or nicest thing ever built, but it would turn heads, even if only in disgust, and Would be fun to beat up on an autoX track.
my other thought is If I could find a half way clean mustang II Ghia, White with red interior I'd want to put it in there. Not as "cool" as a 60's mustang with a lima swap, but just as offensive to car show goers. But I'll probably never do either one. It's just day dreaming really.

I have had a want for a coupe with a new ecoboost setup in it. You can get the driveline cheap and it is all ya need.

Ive been dealing with a lot of LS swaps at work...Considering an LS swap in a Fox Tbird now. These things have gotten so simple.

My dad is in the beginning stages of an L77/6L80e swap into his 56 Bel Air 2DHT. Donor car is a wrecked 2012 Caprice PPV with 35k miles on it. Should run better than the old 350 SBC/Muncie 4spd that's in it now.

Cool. FITech has a killer deal on a complete system with trans controller. They retail around $1500. Beats piece dealing stuff and trying to wire it.

It was a rant powered by a fever dream that get's me to excited and pushes all the logical parts of my brain out of the way and spits thoughts directly to the key board. I apologize if it made anyone's brain hurt. lol

That would be cool to, but I'm working with what I know. I've been farting around with these motors literally since a month before I joined this group.

I run that cam in my Ranger. Best sounding 2.3 cam out there IMHO

not quite, just my never ending desire to own dirty odd ball gutter rat cars that defy common sense. I've always liked beater looking cars that are more function than form.

I've been turbo fording for over a decade. Only time I've ever been stranded was one blown motor, once snapped a wheel off, one broken drive shaft, and once at the track when my distributer shaft gear broke. I had a daily driven 2.3t for most of the past decade, and had the same or fewer problems than anyone else would driving a 35 year old car. 20+lb of boost the whole time. I don't fear the 2.3 life I embrace it.

I'd love to coyote swap an 86 tbird. But that's pretty far out of my comfort zone.

Not mine and nicer than what you’re planning.

I say do it but if it’s anything like the Buick I don’t have high hopes...

ha, ya I agree with you, I'm really good at getting excited about a project, even good at buying and gathering parts for a project. But 9 times out of 10 I loose interest long before I see it done. Only two cars I've owned have held my attention for any length of time. The 88 turbocoupe I had forever, and the truck.

                            ^^This^^

I'd love to do a 65 or 66 fastback with a late gen turbo 6cyl and 5/6 speed....

but alas, I'm too lazy too walk 50 feet to my garage to work on my '69 that's already on the lift waiting for the new fuel level sensor to be installed...

So no more big projects for me now days...

I dig the mustang II idea.

Ill take it one step further, if we're on a mission to piss off the car show guys: pinto wagon, mustang ii front end, turbo 2.3
