  • Appendicitis SUCKS!!

What a long fucking week!!!! After some drama getting back from Colorado last weekend I began a very hectic and busy week at work...worked my ass off to stay on schedule and get things done thru the week. My remaining dog Lola at 13+yrs finally reached the point where I could not get her to eat and was losing weight, muscle and was throwing up everything I could get her to eat. I decided Friday morning I would take the final trip with her to the vet and euthanize her rather than watch her deteriorate any further into sickness. I did my best Thursday night to keep her comfortable and happy...but also had an upset stomach which I figured was just caused by stress. Woke up Friday around 4am..stomach in agonizing pain, cold sweats, nausea, wanted to puke but couldn't do it. Cold wet towel on my face and ceiling fan on high...took some pepto and went back to bed. Woke up at 7am with lots of pain but pressed thru to the vet clinic..took care of business sadly...very tough to do. Went home..took a shower then called Teladoc (our insurance telephone based doctor program) and was told to go to the ER for a Catscan...called my doctor at Baylor and amazingly was told he could see me right away so I raced to Baylor Dallas and saw my doctor. Within 5 minutes he referred me to the referral ER and told me to prepare for surgery. Spent all afternoon in the ER at Baylor...they gave me 2 doses and Fentanyl before the CTscan for pain while in the ER, then while waiting for surgery they gave me Dilaudid..then finally around 10pm they put me under and removed my appendix which thankfully had not burst. Spent the night at Baylor on antibiotics and Tramadol and finally got back home Saturday evening. The pain from the surgery sucks...but I made it. What a long fucking week.

Shit works good doesn't it? I remember going from "I've got a white hot poker scrambling my intestines" to "You could cut my arm off right now and I wouldn't give a shit".

Anyway, sorry about your pup and your appendix.

i had that around 16 years old or so. i've experienced a decent amount of physical pain in my life, but that was one of the few times it was so great it brought me to tears.

did they shave your upper dick pubes too? that was a surprise when i came out of anesthesia!

I think the Fentanyl hit me harder than anything else they gave me..when the nurse told me they were about to give it to me I asked them if they had to give me something that strong as I was concerned about how potent it is...I was told they were monitoring me and that it would be fine. They started getting worried when my heart rate started getting very low...then my blood pressure dropped to dangerous levels and I came very close to blacking out. That shit is no joke. The Dilaudid got me pretty lit....but it was nothing compared to the Fentanyl.

I had my appendix rupture when I was 14. I was racing at the local mx track and I over jumped the finish line jump pushing too hard and flat landed. I got right back up (back when I was made of rubber) rode back to the truck and called it a night. I stayed home from school the next day and by 10am I was shaking and couldn't stop. My mom took me to the ER in azle and they did an x-ray and said I was fine and sent me back home. So my mom took me to the Dr office she worked at in springtown. The doc took one look at me and said he has appendicitis. Go to cooks in fort Worth and my appendix had been jarred down behind my hip.

This has been a frustrating roller coaster of a ride. Over 3 weeks out and now I am still having pain and the surgeon thinks I might have an infection. Just had a second CT Scan at the only facility they could get me into today...just shy of $700 dollars out of my pocket since my insurance doesn't want to cover it. Am now out of PTO and am being paid short term disability at 60% since my job won't allow me to return until the doctor gives me a 100% release. FUCK MY LIFE!!!!!

                        Sorry to hear.

Worst pain I've ever been in in my life, except mine burst and I got the pleasure of spending 10 days in the hospital.

Thankfully mine did not burst but the doctor said it was badly infected. The results came back today from the 2nd catscan and he said there is no infection and that I'm just very sore from them having to cut into my stomach muscles. He said it will get better over time.

Just take it easy, I ended up with an umbilical hernia on my incision from doing too much too soon and had to have another surgery to fix that.

My appendix was an anomaly I suppose, it started hurting in the evening, went the ER at 7am the next morning and it ruptured before they got me into surgery around 2pm.

Yeah it came on VERY quickly. I was at work on Thursday doing my normal job until 6pm, got called back in at 7pm and on my way to the trouble call started having some discomfort from what I thought was just indigestion. Got back home shortly after 8pm and took some Pepto, took a shower and went to bed. Woke up around 4am Friday in severe pain, fever, nausea...the whole nine yards. By noon I was in the emergency room at Baylor getting lined up for surgery. I'm glad it didn't rupture...but it felt like I had been shot in the stomach. Worst pain I have ever experienced in my life.
