  • CoTA - Anyone been?

I'm seriously considering going to CoTA this November. I'm looking for suggestions on the best corners to be at. I'm thinking I'd like to see them at their fastest so the straight away sounds fun but I also want to see some turning action. Thinking turn 4 might be good.

    Anyone here been?

Turn 12-15 complex is probably the best action. This will be really hard to catch if you dont have high end tickets. We got lucky with a private tent and that's the beat experience I've ever had at cota.

Turn 1 is awesome at the start but will be really packed.

The 4-6 esses are ok but boring after 1 lap.

If you're buying grandstand tickets go with turn 12-15. You can walk to the general admission areas any other time.

F1 racing is really boring btw. Netflix made it look a lot more exciting than it really is.

Edit: also if you can swing it...bring an RV there and park it in lot N. That way you can drink and eat at the RV while being able to walk back to the track at any time. Some RV spots also have track visibility.

Went for Moto Gp in April sat on the grassy knoll in turn 16. Could see turns 12-17 and most of turn 1-5. There was a large screen just on the Northside of the bridge we could watch the rest of the track from. Went this past weekend for a ride smart event and had access to all the turns, bridges and pits.

The Vintage Races are really great as you have complete run of the place. No seating assignments. My boy and I went last year. We sat a couple hours here and a couple hrs there. We moved all over the stands. Fun to see old cars haul ass.

The bridges over the track are awesome if they are open, I don’t think they are for the high profile events.

For Moto Gp the bridges were covered with signs.

Best seat in the house is ON the track... I've never been there as a spectator, only as a track day participant. It's amazing.

I've never had an assigned seat (although I've sat in various places). I like to walk around and catch the track from different spots.

This! Me and Sean (W.) and another friend went to the Moto GP a few years ago, and we had general admin. That was the way to go.

General admin at COTA is certainly a great value...but I definitely wouldn't call it the way to go. F1 is much more packed than any other event so it's really hard to get the same view. You're also fighting people the e tire time at any of the concessions, bathrooms...etc

Tickets that include private tent access mean you wont be waiting forever just to get food and beer because they have private concessions. This isnt a big problem for low attendance races but is huge for F1.

Seats definitely give a much better view at turns and if you're at the main grandstand you can get shade and maybe even the benefit of AC.

So its really all on how much you're willing to spend. General admin at COTA is awesome but far from the best option...ESPECIALLY at f1

Edit: i should also add that looking on StubHub for good tickets to the smaller races (motogp, indy...etc) is a great way to save big.
