Anyone using starlink internet? What kinda speeds do you actually see and have you had any reliability issues during storms or high winds?

I can tell you later this year when it arrives. I gave them my $100 deposit for my place in line. I am so sick of Windstream. Everything I've read and heard about it is great. Fast speeds, low ping, no outages in bad weather.

i'm on the list and mine should ship this quarter. Been wanting to test this out for the feasibility of using it at a hunting cabin, etc. and staying a few weeks at a time and being able to work remote.

Is this the same Starlink that the Sat phones use?

I have an acre up in the mountains, about 20minutes south of Breckenridge. One of my neighbors there just got his dish a couple weeks ago and he is simply raving mad at how good it is. He's getting 100mbps down. The speeds are about to be increased to 300mbps.

Before this his best option was a mifi router with Verizon (which has damn good service on that mountain). But the best he could get out of that was about 20mbps.

This motivates me to work faster at getting our barnominium built out there. I can simply take the family up there all summer long and still get my work done.

Starlink is fast at the moment but once there are a lot of subscribers it's going to slow down. I recently read an investor evaluation about the services potential revenue and they concluded that Musk is overstating the potential by about ten fold.

I'm probably wrong here, but wasn't the purpose to give internet access to those who otherwise couldn't afford it or are in remote areas?

Well no shit? Who wouldn’t have thought more use would constrict it?

It can't possibly be worse than what I've got now. Windstream has a stranglehold on my area, and I pay over $65 a month for 5.5mbps down and 512k up. Don't like em? Roll the dice with a fly by night wireless canopy company with highly unstable tech and questionable google reviews.

So if I wind up paying $100 a month for 30-50mbps down and at least 10 up, I am still ahead.

Like everything else Musk does the purpose of this is to make investors think he's the smartest man on the planet so they will fund his ride to Mars.
