  • head unit slid into dash on my 99 cobra

Hi guys, my stereo system slid deeper into the DIN and seems stuck. Not sure how to get it out, considering its using a mounting cage. The mounting cage hasnt budged, but the stereo unit itself is sunk about 3 inches into the dash, making extraction difficult.

    Anyone had this issue before?

Have you tried to turn it off and then back on again?

Seriously, you should have a tool that slides along the left and right walls of the cage and the unit to release it. I *think* they usually come with the DIN . If not, Try to slide something thing, yet strong between the DIN cage and the unit

You probably need to slide thin plastic or metal down both sides of radio between the chassis and cage then pull the radio back through the opening. You may need a pick tool to get ahold of the deck. Sounds like the locking tabs on the cage were not bent in enough to hold onto the chassis of the radio. You could try to remove the cage and then remove the radio. It might be easier to do.

Have you tried hitting it? I've heard that fixes things.
