Last cruise I went on, I played from 10PM to 3AM on $100, wound up $200 ahead, which paid for all of my alcohol for the trip.
I know little of casinos because I don't like them and I'm not interested in playing. But maybe you can tell me; how do you card count when you can't really see the real number of cards you're playing with? In terms of how many are in the deck. Maybe I'm wrong but it looks to me like they pull the cards not from a deck of 52, but some kind of dispenser where you can see that there must be thousands of cards in there.

So in the dispenser, is it just one complete deck after another, all stuck in there?

You have to look for them, but there are hand shuffled tables in the casinos. The vast majority are machine shuffled. But the hand shuffled ones are there.

What I forget to mention was that I wasn’t losing that money. About 90% of what I spent per day I would win back. Basically Breaking out even.

So are the machine shuffled ones... still a 52 card deck? Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but it looks like they come out of a "deck" that would have at least 1,000 cards in it. I don't know if you've been to the Winstar closest to DFW, but you can see that its just a crapload of cards all stacked together. And they deal from that.

If indeed they're shuffling shit tons of cards, that should be cheating, right? As the games were meant to be played with a 52 card deck and no more.

One decent car gets you that much debt, not to mention a $20k student loan cosigned for a "friend". FML

Decent? You can get a nice SUV for 30K and after a downpayment you're in the low 20s.

It's more probability theory than anything. You keep track of 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, and 6's, those are a value of +1, 10's, J's, Q's, K's, A's, those count as -1. Basically more 10's in the deck mean the advantage is in the players favor. More small cards is dealer advantage.

Dealer has to hit, regardless of what his card his, so when there are a ton of smaller cards, he has a great chance of making a 19 or 20 out of a 13 or 14.

So when the count is high, you up your bet. It's not a guaranteed win, nor does it always work, it just tips the odds in your favor.

Depends on if it's machine shuffled or a constant shuffler. Constant, you're fucked, if they just get a new deck from the machine after the shoe is finished, then you're OK.

Carnival cruises use constant shufflers on everything except their "fun 21" game, which removes all queens from the deck, so it's already stacked in their favor.
