What do you consider to be contemporary music?

Yes.

There is no fucking conceivable way that you don't know who AIC or Layne Staley was. It wasn't top 40, it wasn't even really contemporary. Do yourself a favor, and pick up AIC Unplugged and feel it. Even for the grunge movement they were on the edge between heavy metal and grunge.

Side note, I'd kill to buy that car to have it.

Most music doesn't do shit for me. Me knowing the name of a singer of some grunge bands name is a likely as my grandmother knowing who the top 10 NSACAR drivers of all time are.

Still have the car and it is not for sale. The tape was Nirvana not Pearl Jam; don't know how I confused the two when I typed that.

wrong band? Eddie is alive from PJ, Kurt from Nirvana OD'd.

still sad you dont know wtf any of the good bands were. Classical has its place but dont you get bored hearing Bethoven's same shit over and over?

One of my favorite bands of all time. I always knew Id regret selling my WS6.....literally about 3 months ago.....but it was to bring my Buick GN back to life so yeah.....take the good with the bad....the Buicks worth more and is MUCH faster. Pickin up the longblock in about a week. I will always jam out to AIC when I hear it.

Okay, but you saying you've never heard of Alice in Chains and not knowing the difference between Pearl Jam and Nirvana is the same as if your grandmother said she had never heard of a V8.

Yep, when I listen to bands from that era, I'm literally pulled back in my mind to rather obscure moments that shaped my thoughts as I've gotten older.

Until this thread I couldn't name the lead singer of AIC, and hadn't heard that he died.

Word up. My personal top 10 albums of all time would probably have 7/8 from the 90s.

This! There is on way that someone listened to MTV while they were still playing music all of the time and hasn't heard of Alice in Chains. My guess, he is one of those who may know the music if he heard it but couldn't tell you who the artist is/was
