  • Family Gun, can anyone tell me about it?

Received this tonight from my father. It was his great grandmother's, I believe.

I know that it isn't in great condition, but I was hoping someone could shed some light on what exactly it is so I can do some more research. Thanks for anything you guys can tell me about it.

I wonder when he just moves the pawn shop into a mall with all of his friends stores in it.

Its looks like a Colt New Line. If it is, the serial number puts it at being built in 1876. The problem is the top of the firearm doesn't have the frame that the pic below does.

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colt%27...turing_Company

"In 1848, Colt was able to start again with a new corporation of his own. He founded the Colt's Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company in Hartford, Connecticut."

I'm gonna run through some pictures to see if we can at least narrow down a time frame. Nevermind, ^^^^

Colt Open Top Pocket Revolver, made in 1874.

Value about $50 in its condition.

                Open Top Pocket Revolver .22
                Year Serial Number
                1871 1
                1872 3000
                1873 6000
                1874 7500
                1875 48000
                1876 85000
                1877 95000-114201

That was fun, someone post up another one.
