Ya at least the 44-40 has, it still looks good to be 104 years old. Wish I new all the history behind it. My dad didn't even know it existed till his grand father past away and left it too him.

so this post popped back up today and I remembered I have another lever gun. Its a model99 savage 300. This is a great gun. It has a roatery magazine instead of a tube, so it will hold pointed bullets. It has a little less power than a .308 and a 30-06, but still has plenty of pop. This one was made in 1931.

Only savage I could possibly own right there.

2000 Vert.....Why not drill a small hole or maybe two through the crack and put in a long screw or steel rod. Use good glue and clamp it up until the glue sets. Put in a small piece of dowel rod and file it off flush with the stock. Stain the plug and let it weather. It will not be perfect, but you will still have the original stock. I have used this proceedore many times in repairing antique furniture. Just a thought.
