Without my gun hobby. I would cut off my own dick and let the rats eat it...

Eh, there are a shit ton here in the states, just get one from the CMP. The HRA service grade one I got is a pretty nice rifle, much nicer than that one. There is no time like the present, last report I saw the CMP only had enough stock to handle a few more years at the current rate people are buying. Once those are gone, that is it.

Agreed. The one they offer with a new barrel and stock is a really good deal as well. The odds of getting a shelf grade with a shot barrel is getting higher and finding a smith that works on Garands is getting less.

                • Any smith should be able to work on an M-1. The hardest thing to replace is the barrel and even then it's just a vise and wrench.

Timing is the issue I've always been told. If it's off just a bit reliability goes to shit.

There's no timing in an m1 rifle or any semi auto that I'm aware of. Head space probably, but anyone can figure that out. If they can't, you need a new smith.

Seems that a good bit of people disagree with you on that.

Eh what do I know. I never looked at clip or magazine issues as timing a gun.

Either way, those issues don't need a smith to fix.

No not necessarily but without knowledge you either need a lot of spare parts to get things to function correctly.
