  • How to block specific IP's on router...

    I have ASUS router AC66U

Sharing my PLEX with my brother, but he is out of town. His roomate has young girls who go in there and watch my movies ALL DAY. How do I block the IP(which I know) from the router. My brother still uses it when he travels, so I don't want to block his account, only the device at his place.

    Thanks

If you had DD-WRT, I could help more but I did find this...

Learn how to block IP addresses on your Asus router for optimal media streaming. Use this step-by-step guide and get set up in 5 minutes.

    ...that may help.

man, without screen shots or accessing the management interface, it'll be difficult for me to say. But having said that, just about every consumer router should have that option in there somewhere.

I know that wasn't very helpful at all.

I don't know what changing to static IP will do to my setup right now. Wish there was something that stands that would help point me in right menu

didn't even know they had dd-wrt for my router

I need to find good link to download and install.

will figure that out once I find out how to block that IP from those pesky kids
          haha

Are you doing port forwarding for that?

Why not just do it at the firewall in Win?

Ya, they sure do - up to you if it's worth it or not. To me it's sensible to use DD-WRT or one of the variants.

if I can block their IP somewhere else, by all means show me how

I just thought to do that, you would do at the router since that is where everything comes in.

I am a high ranking NOOB at this stuff haha

If you are using Windows and have not installed a "complete" security suite for the operating system, you are likely using Windows Firewall to protect the operating system. ADVERTISEMENT While there are […]

                          Brian

I tried it in NORTON since that is what I use for FIREWALL. Looked up how to block and APPLIED it.

Let's see if that works. Would be nice if router had an easy way of doing it, or it's right there in front of me but in different language..ha

If you can't figure out the FW aspect - just port forward their IPs to the wrong port.

Will see if adding to norton firewall works or not.

Will mess with the port fwd. not at home now. Not sure if i put IP in the “local” column or source column.

My PS4 and Plex, IP’s are under Local column
