Based on his life / work experience I'm gonna say everyone here should listen to what Cooter says on this subject.

    (Srsly, no typical site bullshit)

I have 1/4 inlb 3/8 and 1/2 torque from HF and several other tools from them. Drillbits are junk, the ratchets I have got from them the fwd rev switch broke off and they never have them in stock to get them replaced free. But for the money most not all of there stuff is ok and worth the funds.

I just get all my snap on torque wrenches recalibrated every year.

General tools are good from them, but I rely on Snap-On for tq wrenches and other tools for specifics. I've never had anything break, and all of it has worked great for the price (low profile jacks, tool sets, jack carts, engine lift, etc)

so 140.00 from any other place? I hate graingers prices

Yup quite a few cheap tools that aren't worth much more than what you paid. However, their tool cabinets are a steal. Outstanding quality for what you pay.

I will use a click type wrench on lug nuts, suspension components, and pinion nuts. On everything else I use OTC strain gauges with a breaker bar. Fuck ever using any harbor freight tools short of a hammer or punch.

At the end of the day, none of this makes a fuck. Know your tools folks.

This doesn't really surprise me given the fact that click over torque wrenches have been around forever. Any standard tool from snap-on is obviously overpriced.

It's a lot easier to make cheap products when your research development department is really just a reverse engineering department dedicated to copying others. I have plenty of cheap harbor freight tools, but anything modern is going to lag behind the big boys. Therea a reason their premium power tools have a crappy warranty and arent much cheaper than the major brands.

I like Snap On's wrenches but the place to get them is on Ebay where they are $12-20 each and less than that if you buy them in groups.

I think Northern Tool has better stuff then Harbor Freight. I do like to have the cheap Chinese shit available if needed. This weekend I had to make a 32mm thin wall socket to remove the VVT solenoid from a BMW. It was $80 on Amazon and we made it with a Northern Tool socket that cost us $12.

I primarily use Snapon, I've had a consistent snapon dealer (3 in 22 years) and flaky Mac, matco, and cornwell in the years I've done auto repair. I buy from whom I can trust to be there when I need a repair or warranty. That said, I have tool from all 4 of those and some cheap stuff that has all benlen dependable. I have some crapsman as well, but there recent troubles and pain in the ass to get your shot warranted now policy makes them worse than any cheap as Chinese tool I own at this point. My home tools are the same way.

Crapsman's car jacks are trash. had one last me less than 3 years and only used it 4 times. My Mechanic said he's owned a jack from HF going on 6 years
