Probably because they are idiots and want to justify their budget/spending by doing a search warrant while he is in the house. You are right, they should have caught him anywhere but where he was prepared to defend himself. Everybody knows a car can be a death trap in a gun fight, should have caught him in there.

Because, just like in 1985, when they could have done the same thing with David Koresh, they thought they could easily barge in, make a big show of it, and make an example out of him so that they could strike fear into others. But, like in 1985, they were once again mistaken. Then again, maybe they were willing to sacrifice a few of their own in order to make another case for taking our guns away.

Being ambushed by someone that you're actively going after is impossible. If he had gone to the agent's house and shot them when they were walking out their front door one morning that would be an ambush.

Considering how the man was a computer expert I doubt he had any child porn and in all likelihood had something juicy and was holding it over the head of some politician. Federal law enforcement has been using the label of child porn or child abuse to cover any abuse of power that they feel like perpetrating since the 1990s . Why do you think they're ramping up the rhetoric on human trafficking just like they did in the build-up to the War on Drugs?

Edit: If I was in that man's position I don't think I would have shot myself after shooting the agents. Instead I would try to survive just so I could force the government to spend millions in legal fees defending me while giving me a forum to talk shit about the agents that I killed and letting the world know what little bitches they were.

Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

Just did a lexis search and looked on PACER. The two agents that were killed have never worked a case dealing with human trafficking, child pronography, or crimes against children that is showing up in any record I can find. Their names are all over cases dealing with political corruption though. I wonder if they just got Serpicoed.

Edit: Both agents names come up for a lot of cases but other than what is being reported in the news after they were killed there is not a single mention of child porn investigations
