I have to agree with Bubbaearl, just leave it alone and let it blow the fuck up. This is that retarded ass Obama's legacy so a complete disaster is exactly what it needs to be.

I was working at HP when our son was diagnosed as being Autistic. We researched a lot and found that Applied Behavioral Analysis therapy was very effective in most cases. There was just one problem. Our insurance through HP didn't cover ABA therapy. Oh, BTW, this therapy costs $2000-$5000 per week, depending on what's being done.

Despite that, I ran through my savings putting Carpenter through therapy for two months. During that period, I put my boy on a BCBS Gold plan that I bought through the Obamacare exchange. At the time it cost $220 a month and had a total out of pocket (deductable and copay) of $3500 a year. Needless to say, it was dirt cheap compared to paying out of pocket. I obviously make too much for any subsidies but I'm certainly not complaining.

Two years of therapy worked wonders for my son. He talks so much I can't shut him up. He doesn't scream his head off at the littlest thing anymore. He's developmentally delayed but I can see his skills growing all the time and I think he's going to progress into a normal, productive man.

None of that would have happened without Obamacare.

There are downsides here, of course. For one, our premiums jumped to $290 last year. BCBS of Texas dropped him when we moved to Colorado so there has been a delay getting him back in therapy as we moved to Anthem BCBS.

My biggest problem with Obamacare isn't that it exists. It's that it has done nothing to contain costs. There is no requirement for a living will. There is nothing that looks at lifestyle change and it's benefits compared to major surgeries. There has been no effort to reign in drug costs. The list goes on and on. If Congress acted to contain healthcare costs for Obamacare participants, it would drive down costs for those of us on regular commercial health plans. Instead we get bullshit like "death panels" and other fear mongering to prevent any change at all.

But mark my words, if Obamacare collapses, you'll find it being replaced with a single payer system at some point. After seeing how inept the current congress is, I don't see Obamacare going away anytime soon.

If I were King of the USA for a year, I would create a commission to identify the reasons health care is so damn expensive. The commission would have no input on solutions at all. I just want to identify the problem. After that is done, we can look at our current system to identify the gaps that could address the problem or look at a completely different system. It's a multifaceted issue. There are multiple contributing factors in this. As Trump found out, healthcare is complicated.

there is no competition in healthcare . because of government meddling the whole reason for obamacare was to fail and create single payer. same thing as hillarycare . the left want single payer as one more entitlement program for control. all part of the rules for radicals. there were many books written by the acp about how to take down america. divide , disarm and dependence . old philosophy but still part of the democratic agenda today as it was in 65.

I agree with a lot of that, but I'm not quite sure what you mean by no competition in healthcare. My business focuses on the healthcare industry at the doctors office all the way up to insurance companies and even Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software vendors. I see plenty of competition. So I'm wondering if you have a different meaning there.

This is so important. It's amazing to me how phd lvl leftist morons don't get that a person (i.e. Doctor, nurse practitioner, nurse, or some educated tech) is required to get health care. Now because of the current regime no educated person wants to be a health care practitioner anymore. Socialism always fails at some point.

state monopoly . it should be a free market . that is why some people have been pushing to open markets state to state. the main reason healthcare is so expensive is the government will pay any price. supply and demand and open markets should control prices. not some dipshit lawyers in the dc bubble.
