  • restoring old wheels

I want to restore my 69 shelby wheels without sending them off and spending a lot of money. The chrome has no pitting and will polish up nice, the gray insert area doesn't have any corrosion, but looks very dingy. I plan to wash them with dish soap and a good scrub brush, but I don't think that will be good enough. Any ideas on what to use on the gray area to get them looking good again?

If the painted grey areas are compromised, ie being faded, then there is no recourse to bring back the color to them. You can attempt a few paint correction methods on them, but that may leave them stained as the coating is so old.

You may want to just clean them up as well as possible and just appreciate the original finish.
