I'll let you know if I need to figure out how to get a turd from one location to another, I know you are good at that. It should come in handy with that green car too.

I actually bought an 83 from Forrest a long time ago for $500. It was a complete running and driving brown turd of a car, non intercooled and a stick shift. I kick myself because that is exactly what I need for this junkyard race. We took around 800 lbs of weight out of that car, to the point that the instrument cluster was zip tied to the wiring harness attached to the firewall, and it was actually fairly quick.

Not a good investment, but it's not that far off from what they are worth now.

They're really not bad in stock form, slow as balls by today's standards, but not that much slower than a GT mustang or a 305 camaro. Taking 800lbs out is nice, especially since the early models were only 3K lbs. One REALLY nice thing that no one talks about is the MPG. My mom's 87 gets high 20's to low 30's for every day driving.

                          • I got 31mpg driving to San Antonio with my old '86 302/AOD/2.73 Thunderbird. This was during the 55mph speed limit era but I thought that was good for a big-ish V8 car. I'm pretty sure it's the highest MPG car I've ever owned.

my best in a fox platform was my 86 5.0/5spd vert, top down, 26mpg at roughly 75mph.

Im excluding the only highway trip in the svo, it got somewhere in the high twentys/low thirties.
