  • my father was one of the investigators on that case. He did say he hated interviewing child molesters 8hrs a day for months. He worked on that case for well over a year with the FBI.

When Opal Jennings was taken he was going to be forced to work that case also and chose to retire instead. Said he could not go through that again.

He was using it as a tow vehicle. He had an enclosed car hauler and if I remember right it was at a Fun Ford event but might have been one of the events in Denton.

But yeah on the borrowed car part. I've had access to some pretty high end cars. I used to help shuttle cars for an exotic rental place and before that I used the same chassis dyno as Norwood. All of John Carmack's toys were on that thing at some point and the owner wasn't real keen on security.

Small world. I worked for Norwood when he was on Tracy Ln in Dallas and used to drag John to Iguana Mirage when he was still living in a $400 per month apartment in Mesquite despite him owning 2 Ferraris by then. He parked them at his apartment and his insurance co lost their fucking minds when they both got hailed on.

Didn't Norwood blow up one of Carmak's cars? Thought I read an article about it in Car and Driver in the 90's...
I did have the pleasure of watching Norwood blow up a high end Porsche at some dyno shop owned by one crookedass aussie. Can't remember the shop name, but they were trying to build some Dominion head SBC for a few years and when the ship started sinking the helper ran off with the heads.

Bob blew up lots of engines on a dyno. He even once blew up a dyno at Johnny Johnsons shop off Metric Lane in Garland. Johnny kept the engine until Bob paid him for the damage to his dyno. It was the turbocharged big block Chevy in that Ferrari 288 replica Bonneville car.

Dynotech, Chris Harrington. That car ended up at AMS with Dominion heads on it, I don't think it ever ran though. The owner's name was Brett I think and it was a silver WS6. Poor guy got raped by everybody.

I ended up with some LPE heads that Chris used for a magazine shoot. He was a good guy but just wanted to try and make everyone happy at once and it just wasn't possible being the only dyno in town. Norwood finally bought his own and Chris moved his shop to Garland I think, wherever Jotech was. Then he just evaporated.

Names I haven't heard in years. Another chassis dyno that was in Arlington was Alamo Autosports, who I think is still around. Used their dyno many times. Pretty sure Norwood did too with some MR2 project. Claimed it did a wheelie in 3rd gear while tuning on it on the street. It blew up shortly thereafter. Also Area 51 had a dyno. I never got accurate results from it, though. Both Alamo and Harrington's seem to be pretty spot on.

I can't count how many transmissions and transfer cases that motherfucker went through. Did you know Steve with the 280Z? Worked on it forever. I saw it run maybe once. There was also a dude named Larry who had the Civic? He was a cool cat.

They went to an AWD dyno. Redline on California street also has one and it was a lot cheaper than Alamo's, probably still is. I know plenty of people with them now though. Heck Simplequick is 5 minutes away.

Yep. He became a Marine. Lost contact with him in the early 2000's so not sure what he's up to.

that was after my time. Last time I saw bryce was maybe 1998'ish. I stopped by his shop several years ago and same ol' shit, under someone's car and didn't have time to talk. Not sure he knew who I was.

                            • ha! I used to hang out at Redline a lot. The owners red civic hatch was a beast back then, although I think it was yellow too at one point. I too haven't been there since about 1999.
