  • Dropped laptop, now it don't work'n stuff

It give me a " error code 2000 0146" when I run a diagnostic test. Googled it a little bit and came up with " bad hard drive" has anyone ever had this error code or similar problem ?

Ouch, I hope you had your data backed up. If you had irreplaceable stuff on there, forensic recovery specialist may be able to get it back but it is NOT cheap.

The drive can take like 10x more g's if it's off when it's dropped. Was it on, or was it off when you dropped it?

....and just cause the lid was closed does not mean it was off.

Yeah, it was on when it was dropped. The laptop belongs to my old lady and she said it fell flat off the couch while it was on. She has some really important stuff on there that I'm sure she didn't backup on that damn 3TB drive I bought her.

Check to see if the ram came loose.

make sure the drive is connected firmly too.

Everything seems secure and at this point, it doesnt matter if I throw this thing at the wall.
So will any ol' SATA hard drive work in this pos?

My woman did the exact same thing. She took out the monitor on it though. Pretty much can't be replaced without wasting $200+. I just bought her a cheap asus, using the old laptop as a desktop and called it a day.

Working on installing everything on her laptop and networking right now.
