  • Issue With Firefox

    Firefox 5.0.1

Started today, not sure what the issue is.

When I go to some sites it does not load it completely and the browser just shows that it's connecting.

Specifically I noticed www.gsxr.com does this.

I can try to go to another site afterwards and it just says connecting.

I can close out of the browser, but firefox.exe lingers in the processes and I cannot terminate it. To re-open the browser I must reboot.

In the meantime, i'm able to browse just fine with IE.

What do you think the problem is?

I reverted back to 3.6.19 and it seems to be working now.

I refuse to update beyond 3.6.19 because all of the newer versions SUCK.

Disable any ad blocking extension you have. It won't load on my phone because of the hosts file I'm using.

Thanks. I'd removed Adblock plus and re-installed 5.0.1. Moving around now to see what will happen.

Keep ABP just disable for that site and see what happens.

I had already disabled it completely. So far so good, will know with more browsing!

I found a copy of Netscape Navigator while going thru some boxes earlier that might solve your problem

Where can you get Firefox 3.6.19?

Glad to know that worked. Now reenable ABP then set it to off for that site so you still loose all the ads on other sites.

Faster page loading, less memory usage and packed with features, the new Firefox is here.

It was hit or miss with more sites than just that. I wonder what triggered the hang up?

I guess I can live without Adblock since i'm running Noscript

The way the site loads the ads was prohibiting the site from fully loading, think of it as a way to keep getting ad revenues by forcing ppl to disable ad blocking.
