Have you found a fish oil pill that doesn't taste like shit when you burp throughout the day? There's a ton of benefits for taking fish oil, but I can't get past that.

Are you taking them with food?

Yeah, I don't take any pills on an empty stomach. Do you get those from Greg? I'll give them a shot.

found out yesterday that my husbands triglyceride number was 432. They stopped testing anything else until he gets these under control. So fenofibrate (54mg) and diet adjustment with more exercise it is for him. He has never been checked before.....he is 6'8" tall and weighs about 225. He eats more grilled than fried foods and is not a dessert man.....ugh.

His Dad is 6'2, 165 lbs and has extremely high cholestoral as well. Yay for genetics.....

I use the CVS house brand, also 1200 mg, which received good reviews in Consumer Reports for being among those lowest in mercury contamination.

What about bread, pasta, or (the debbil) soft drinks?

eat more veggies, nuts fish, stay away from most white stuff, flower, bread, white rice ect.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.

Soft drinks are his down fall.....He had just about given them up.....but now they are completly gone. He loves his subway.....so we had to tweak what he can have there as well.

The numbers they gave him scared the crap outta him, so hopefully this makes a big impact in what he views as good.....

I was reading this thread back in May and thought to myself that he had best get in and get a base line going...He is 40 afterall....lol.....good thing we did.

I like the "blah blah blah" in your original statement. You'd be surprised how a healthy diet and a good exercise routine can change your life man.

If you have any questions about diet or what type of exercises you should be doing, let me know. I used to compete a little bit and I'm pretty knowledgeable on diets.

                              Fish nuts FTW!

About a month ago Lyn and I got a Jack Lalanne juicer and I'll be damned, but it makes some great tasting stuff and leads to a healthier diet! We already ate a lot of veggies and fruits, but now juicing them is quite delicious, along with the added health benefits. I have not eaten breakfast since we started, only had different juices for breakfast. Some mornings, I do not even have to take any insulin (other than my basil rate, slow drip sorta thing), and even fruit juices seem to effect my blood sugar levels less than eating the fruit itself. And yes, depending on what you mix up, it can be very filling, or you can be starving in 2 hours! Apple juice alone = hungry later. I've been making some killer V8 type juice in the morning, and it has very little impact on my glucose levels.

You can also research certain foods that specifically aid in cholesterol, gas, etc. They have a juice for fucken everything!

I gave up soft drinks completely for Lent this year (and I'm not even Catholic) and haven't had one since. I'm on both fenofibrate (135mg -Trilipix) and atorvastatin (40mg - formerly known as Lipitor) and intend to be off of both within the year. I'm using the Atkins diet, so far with excellent results, and unfortunately I can't blame my formerly bad cholesterol and triglyceride number on genetics at all.
