You guys hear about Flordia's "virtual classrooms"? They dont have enough money in Dade county so they dumped off teachers, got lots of computers and hired a proctor to watch the kids and help with technical issues with the computers.

Downside to that is these virtual classrooms won't have anyone to fill the role of substitute parents that is expected of many teachers. Raise the motor fuel tax if need be, but don't shortchange the schools and the many dedicated teachers who serve an important role in a lot of kids early lives.

How about just don't waste the shitload of money they already get? But really we know it isn't a money issue, it is a lazy ass parent issue.

How do you prove that someone needs assistance? I was behind one lady at the check out stand in walmart. She used three different Lone Star cards to pay for her stuff and then swiped a credit card for the remaining.

Many parents just put their kid in front for the TV, which is their virutal baby sitter. Why can't the schools do the same?

'Cause those kids need to get an education so they can get a job and pay taxes so I can draw my Social Security benefits.

                        I'm fine with it.

At least the kids won't be brainswashed by the Majority Lefty teacher population.... at least not in person.

Hell, with Drop out rates and all around Laziness, I wouldn't be surprised at some of the Urban Schools if the Teachers arent telling the children shit like the story of “The Big Bad Captitalist, and the Three Little Socialists.” …” I‘ll huff and I’ll puff, and I’ll make you work for a living!”

Look at their vehicles, home, job and see if the numbers make sense. If they are driving an escalade and show zero income, then they aren't getting shit because they are making money under the table

I understand where you are going with all this, but for every 1 child that truly needs things like a free lunch program, there are 5 or more that are flat out abusing it.

Although there will be abuse in any handout, I don't believe that for a minute. In Dallas that may be the case but in rural areas where people work at Wal mart for $7 an hour it is a valuable program.

The problem is once you get one entitlement program, it automatically means you can get them all. IE - welfare, free lunch, medicaid, etc. It's a domino effect.

I do realize there are needy kids, especially in rural areas, but how many times have you been behind someone at the store when they get pissed that their Lone Star Card doesn't cover Black&Milds, cigarettes, or beer; only to see them trot out and hop in their Escalade in the parking lot or pull out a wad of cash while in the store? It's bullshit, it's abuse, and it shouldn't be tolerated. And this doesn't just happen in DFW, Houston, and Austin. It's every bit as prevalent in Tyler, Longview, Paris, etc.

I understand, and agree that children shouldn't suffer because their parents are fucking idiots, but where does it stop? A lot of this bullshit would be cut the fuck out if they would make passing a drug test to receive benefits mandatory. I think the dollars spent on drug testing would be well worth it, given the hundreds of millions in free benefits that are being abused. Spend a little to save a fortune, is the way I see it.

And I also have the problem with entitlement programs in general, because as someone else mentioned, it teaches these kids from a young age to have their hand out. In a perfect world, there wouldn't be piece of shit parents. But we all know this isn't a perfect world. That still doesn't make me believe for a second that the abuse that's going on is ok, and that we should all just tolerate it.
