I submitted an appeal via the appraisal district site and got scheduled for dispute hearing. I went in and was able to get them to lower about $15k off the value. The appraisal rep for the appraisal district offered to lower it only $5k but the review board gave me $15k, not bad considering I was asking for $20k decrease. Apparently they hadn't raised it in the past couple of years so they were "under" taxing me and said the $40k increase was still not accurate because the homes in my area were selling for more. Go figure.
