Six of the victims were Asian women, officials said. The shootings occurred within an hour at three spas.

Eight people were shot and killed in three shooting scenes — a massage parlor and two spas — in two Georgia counties Tuesday, Atlanta-area officials said.

The shootings have not been linked by authorities.

The suspect in one of those shootings, which killed four people about 5 p.m. at a Cherokee County massage parlor north of Atalanta, was in custody Tuesday night, sheriff's Capt. Jay Baker said.

The suspect was identified as Robert Aaron Long, 21. A motive is not known.

"We do not know if this is the suspect from Atlanta," Baker told reporters.

Cherokee County sheriff's deputies responded to the massage parlor and found multiple gunshot victims, Baker said.

Two were dead at the scene, and three others were injured, he said. The injured were taken to a hospital, where two later died. One person remains hospitalized.

About 45 minutes after the Cherokee County shooting and 30 miles away, police in Atlanta responded to a report of a robbery on Piedmont Road in the northeast part of the city.

Officials discovered three women dead from apparent gunshot wounds, and while on scene, recieved a call of shots fired across the street, where a woman was found dead inside that business, Atlanta police said.

Atlanta Police Chief Rodney Bryant said described one location as a spa, and another as an aromatherapy spa.

In the Cherokee County shooting, the sheriff's office released photos of a suspect being sought and asked anyone with information to call 911.

A motive is not known in the shooting in Cherokee County, which is about 40 miles north of Atlanta.

"It does not appear that robbery or theft was a motive, but that's one of the things we're looking into," Baker said. "We don't know what his motive was when he arrived or what motivated him to do something like this."

Descriptions of the suspect or suspects in the Atlanta shootings have not been released. Bryant, the Atlanta police chief, said video was being reviewed.

Bryant said that he's had conversations with Cherokee County officials but that but it was too early to connect the shootings.

He said the victims in the Atlanta shootings may be Asian.

The motive in those shootings is still under investigation.

"We are in the very early stages of this," Bryant said.

This is a breaking story and will be updated.

Yeah this anti Asian hate stuff feels an awful lot like the coexist and lgbtqia alphabet stuff we were shamed about for 8 years under Obama. Are conservative voters supposed to be pivoting from hating blacks and wanting to bring back the confederacy to wanting to nuke Japan again?

It's fairly blatant propaganda and it's working. We'll have people wearing pussy hats, waving dildos and carrying Mao dolls in protests this summer.

He probably caught something getting the extra special happy ending, and decided to exact revenge on every house of hand jobs parlor in the area.

There's definitely something weird going on. The man that shot up Las Vegas a few years back used to live in the Dallas area. I have a friend who knew the guy and the guy was trying to convince him to shoot a bunch of people about 20 years ago.

Let’s see how many boxes this checks:
-Mass shooting shortly after a major gun control bill is introduced: check.
-White, “rustic”-looking suspect right after “white supremacists” mentioned as #1 domestic terror threat: check.
-Non-white people and businesses targeted due to same: check.
-Targets highly likely to be unarmed, because can’t have the chance guns could be used to protect lives: check.
-Former Red State, now Purple/Blue, but still has Red State gun laws on books (for now): check.
-Extremely violent suspect captured alive without resistance so there can be a trial (and periodic reminders of the incident in the media) for years to come: check.
Bonus: story takes spotlight so there won’t be a mention of the quad-murder in Indy because $1400 wasn’t enough for one guy, or of the 15-bagger in Chiraq this past weekend: check.
