  • spray painting aluminim/sheetmetal panels

Before yall freak out this is for my mini Sprint car. I want to repaint the car the same paint scheme black and orange. It's just faded and cracking and id like it to be a decent 20 footer. Do I need to strip the paint or just sand it down? What grit sandpaper should I use? How can I prevent tiger striping?

If it is solid colors, no sparkle in the orange, you can do it in a urethane single stage. It's very durable and can be done in three passes, one sealer and 2 of color. You can da the panels w/ 400 then clean them and paint. If you have been spraying the car w/ diesel to keep mud from sticking you will have to be very carefull cleaning everything to make sure it is very clean BEFORE sanding.
