Seriously, Dennison's is my favorite canned meat soup, with beans.

That's the only canned chili we ate growing up. FWIW, we always called it "Chili-beans".

I must need more coffee. I read spanglish as spaghetti and it confused the hell out of me.

To make real Texas red you need to start with peppers and make your own pepper puree. Anything else is blasphemy. For meat I've used a wide variety of things and I like onions too. Last batch was 2 lb ground sirloin, 1 lb ground pork, red onion diced and hand made pepper purée.

I use a variety of red peppers a hand mixer or blender and strain off seeds and large pieces of pulp. I use adobo and a tiny bit of brown sugar to cut heat. Cumino to taste.

My chili didn't even place in the top 3 out of 10.The judges announced the winner before my coworkers could eat any. However, my crockpot was empty first ( same size as everyone else ). Now I know how Hilary feels.

I won the popular vote, damnit.

                        Damnit, now I want chili.

Anthony, that sounds good but a lot of work. I guess you feel it's worth it?

It's not that much work once you've done it. If anyone wants to make a dfw chili get together I'm willing to show up and demonstrate. It's fast and easy once you've done it.
