    So in WWII apparently Joes were getting clear grips on their 1911's and putting photos of their gals under them.

    A quick search and it pulled up this picture in the mix. Hidden little gem in the movie Fury.

        The soldiers would make them out of scraps of plexiglass from aircraft windshields. I noticed those grips when I saw that movie the first time.
