because children may have been watching and the sight of a gun may have traumatized them for life!

Oh, okay. It seemed like one day you were all for murderous road rage, and then a couple days later you lamented that the cops weren't going to pursue an incident where no one was harmed. I definitely read that all wrong. My bad!

Man charged in BB gun road rage incident

Amarillo police arrested a man who pointed a BB gun designed to look like a semi-automatic during a road rage incident Thursday in northeast Amarillo, according to a news release issue Friday.

Davis Emmert, 21, of Amarillo, was booked into Potter County jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

About 5:40 p.m. Thursday, officers were sent to the area of Northeast Sixth Avenue and North Birmingham Street after a caller said he’d located a green Chevrolet pickup driven by a man who had pointed a handgun at him and his three children earlier in the afternoon at an intersection on North Grand Street.

Upon arrival officers located a vehicle matching the description driven by a man later identified as Emmert with two other men standing nearby, police said. Officers detained the three men before talking to the victim.

The victim told officers he was driving south on Grand over the railroad tracks when he noticed Emmert’s green pickup following him very closely, tailgating him. Emmert then quickly changed lanes and passed the victim and then swerved toward the victim’s car, trying to hit him, police said. Emmert then swerved back in front of the victim and slammed on his brakes attempting to cause a collision.

The victim continued south on Grand and pulled up beside Emmert at the red light at 10th Avenue and South Grand. Emmert rolled down his window and pull out what appeared to be a semi-automatic pistol, police said. Emmert pulled the slide back as if he was chambering a round and then pointed the weapon at the victim. The light turned green and the victim pulled into a nearby business to get away from Emmert.

During the incident, the victim recognized Emmert’s pickup as one a friend recently sold. He contacted the friend and asked where the vehicle might be found. The victim learned the new owners live near N.E. Sixth and N. Birmingham Once he found the vehicle, he called for officers to respond. Officers found a the BB gun in the floor of the pickup and it was seized as evidence.
