It follows the men in my husband's family. It sucks but I kinda knew it was coming....Tony however did not think it would really be that bad. So, we are fixing him up and trying to start now on our son so that he has a better idea of what is ahead for him. Low fat, low sugar/carbs, high fiber and good meats. We were also told to increase his legume intake...lol.....there are going to be a lot of beans in his future!

You can get your numbers down!! I will look back here in 3 months to see where everyone is...hopefully my ol' man has better numbers by then as well!!

Good luck to him. It's a real bitch to have to change your lifestyle when you've been able to live "as you wish" for so long, like I have. And the pasta/bread/rice comments are very true too. Giving up eating as much bread as I want really is hard for me. And like Cannon said, exercise is a must. I just need to get back to it - more seriously.

Looks like Fish Oil and Oatmeal for me from here on out
Blood work came back. Total Cholesterol >or=500
Couldn't even get an LDL number.

I have to get it tested again tomorrow and hope it is lower and within range. Either that or I need to get on meds. Shitty thing is though, I need to get a resolution and possibly a waiver before I can deploy back to Afg on the 16th.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Ooops I read the numbers wrong.
My triglicerides (sp?) were 401 which would not allow for an LDL number
                    My Total Cholesterol was 245
                    HDL was 38

Still I need to get the total down and HDL up plus I need to get the trig. down and a passing LDL before I can deploy. Dr visit in the morning. Diet change will be easy; there is not a Chik-Fil-a, Taco Bell, Sonic, etc in Afghanistan.
