  • That would be why I'm looking at other options besides those or dd. I hear they both require special tools at added cost of an already expensive rail.

    • Yeah I avoid rails that use proprietary tools, already heavily invested in ar tools, don't need any more.

If I didn't get such a good deal on the completed upper with assorted accessories I would have been really pissed.

        It's a neat setup though.

YHM is cheap, durable, but heavy. I'm personally not a big fan of quad rails, too much weight, uncomfortable to hold, unnecessary material. I have used the YHM diamondbacks, they are probably one of their lightest rails, but they are still considerably heavier than any mod rail. I prefer modular rails, all I need is the top rail, and then I can add a few rails on if I need accessories. I have 5 samson evo rails, I love them because they look good, are super light, and they are cheap. Another decent modular rail is the troy trx alpha, those are good rails too, but a little less comfortable to hold, and the attachment system is kind of tedious. Also 1.5" suppressors will not fit inside of the TRX rails, which sucks. I guess it all depends on what you're looking for.

I was looking at their smooth tube model.

I've also been drawn to the alg handgaurd as well.

I was about to say, they must have something new. Doesn't look too bad, and it's about $20 cheaper than a comparable evo rail, so that's not too bad. It is heavier though. The ALG looks like it's pretty cheap too. I think it's all just whichever you prefer aesthetically really.

it's legal in IPDA ESP, and USPSA limited... the two sports/divisions I shoot in and it'll work just fine until I can get my SVI.

I'll offer you a free shoot if you promise to withhold judgement until you know for yourself. And look at it this way, it's replacing a glock.
