I've been wanting to build an AK. What would those of you that have say is the most difficult part of doing so?

Does this hold true for the AK style rifles as well? I can TIG but don't own a press. I'm not local to that shop in Denton so I'd have to find another route.

Could someone explain the finer points of how the ban *might* work? As in how the previous one worked? When you say that unless the gun is purchased complete it is going to be considered "post-ban", so does that mean if I have a complete gun purchased and swap the upper, it is now post-ban? Further, does the fact that its post-ban just mean I can't sell it? If thats the case, I don't care. I want to own it and enjoy it. I'm not buying/building for a profit.

Just FYI, these questions are purely hypothetical (the 2nd paragraph) and geared toward how the previous ban would affect these builds since we have no way of predicting what is in store.

Ak's are very easy to build.

I'll probably start there, as bad as I want a 7.62 HK lol. Been reading around on Gunco's build boards to hopefully gain enough knowledge to decipher all of the different parts and steps out there!

If several of us decide to get some AK kits, perhaps we can pitch in for the tools needed and have an AK build party?

Just to prove to DOHCTR that I am open minded, I would be willing to host it in the same fashion I have in the past for the 3 build parties I had at my place. Would have to be on my short window time frames on my R&R though. Maybe mid April. Plenty of time for people to commit and buy parts.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

are uzi receivers ones to press and weld similar to HK. HK builds can get expensive in a hurry if you dont finish your own receiver

Can you build a PSL just like an AK? Curious because I wanna get a couple spam cans of 54R and I can't imagine shooting that much through a couple Mosins
