Bad ass. I wonder if they would abort the launch due to heavy seas?

They have done that several times in the past. They will fly anyways if the timing of the launch is critical. At this point they are just doing test landings. The full price of the flights are being paid for by SpaceX customers so there isn't to much of a financial ramification if they loose a rocket during a landing attempt at this point.

... and they didn't expect it to happen on this one. Because of the nature of the mission this landing had to scrub twice as much speed as the last one.

                        • Yup, but that just means another learning opportunity.

                          • Makes one wonder how many REAL times humans tried and failed at flight, then at landing. Crazy to imagine a time where these types of landings are as common place as a commercial airliner!

Low thrust in one engine. That means they can learn why the thrust was low and Elon already tweeted about accommodating this situation.

Common place as plane landings? Perhaps...much it is MUCH harder. The rocket has to enter the atmosphere, cannot glide, does not have wheels, and lands vertically on a floating platform in rough seas.

They do haul ass but that video is sped up a lot. I don't remember the exact timeline but it was at least 5 minutes after seperation when the first stage landed.
