  • WTB: small block chebby--?

Looking for another engine to replace the tired dog in my old Corvette...

While I know this is a Ford based site, I thought some of y'all might know somebody with a decent sbc for sale. Looking for a 350 based engine, maybe a mild 355 to 383ish with around 350 hp.

Not really interested in any radical race stuff, just a good street engine.

Put the word out for me.

My dad owned and daily drove his '69 Chevy short step side pickup for 10 years back and forth from Denison to Frisco every day over 15 years ago. It had a built 355, turbo 400, 3.08 gears, a/c, was lowered and was about 4 different colors. It didn't look like much but it caught a lot of people unsuspecting. He sold the truck to

I heard he was going with an LSx.

Question: I pulled a sbc 350 with Turbo 400 out of my 75 vette (running fine when pulled & going Ls) curious if it's even worth anything
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

            260 is around 350...

Yeah, I've seen a few of those good deals at Jegs and Summitt... and that maybe a possibility for me. 260Hp would be about 65 more than what I currently have... Ha Ha!

Realistically, I'd like to end up with 300 or so if I'm going to all the trouble to change
              the engine.

              Keep those ideas coming...

it also comes with a baby cam, a decent cam would really wake it up.

Nope, saw that. But he also stated he wanted a good street engine so it's a viable option. Especially considering he could upgrade the cam, intake, and carb and easily have his ~350hp, all the while having a well built, reliable, and long lasting motor.

Main reason I recommended it is, it's hard to find a quality engine in the $1500 range, and that should be one.

Edit: I'd take that 260hp rating with a grain of salt, that isn't taking into consideration what intake, headers, and etc... will be used; also GM has a history of under rating their power output. Opposite issue as the 300hp rated Cobras that put out 260.

Valid points. I certainly don't disagree with a crate motor.
