can your wife run without issues? I dont mean like marathon running but light running with kids or tennis something of that nature? I was surprised the dr said tennis would be ok to take up aftewards. i've never played but assuming soccer is out i may have to give it a shot!
Wife has rheumatoid arthritis so running is out for her. Biking and swimming is her exercise. No impact.

Lite running probably good. Main thing is to build muscle around the knee so the knee joint isn't taking full brunt of movement/impact.

She was driving after three weeks. Take full advantage of handicap placard!

      Ahh gotcha. I have a pool so that'll definitely be a go-to.

My mother had double knee replacement surgery at 63yo....it changed her life for the better. The recovery however...it takes time and you have to commit yourself to it for real.

Get the surgery the relief and ability function "normally" is worth it. And in 20 years the tech will probably have 3d printed parts using cloned stem cells

Wife has had both knees replaced within the past 8 months. She was running a tile cleaner 4 days after the first one, and was walking without either a walker or cane within 2 weeks of the second. Both times they had her up and walking within 8 hours of surgery. Trick is to take the pain meds as directed, and use the ice water circulator for the first 5 days to keep the swelling to a minimum. Her surgeon said to expect the knees to last between 25-30 years. Crazy Italiano!! Oh and the first one took them 45 minutes to replace.. Second one was 50 minutes..

If you just wait another 10 years, there will probably some epic ass surgery that will just regenerate everything, be kinda hard with a terminator knee. I would wait as long as possible before replacing shit with artificial crap, so many complications. My grandpa waited till his 80's to replace his hip that was fucked up when a cow kicked him in the chest as a kid.

Just my personal opinion, i'm sure you'l hear some success stories.

Personally, I'd rather deal with the pain than have a knee replacement. I have seen some awful outcomes from failed procedures. Good luck.

I had my left knee replaced last year. It was severely fucked up from a broken tibia plateau from 15 years ago (thank you dirt bikes). I waited as long as I could (42 years old) and I just take it anymore. I had a huge divot worn into my tibia from being bone on bone. My recovery sucked for the first couple of months. The doctor really had to get rough with my knee during surgery. After 3 months I was much better and back on my dirtbike after 4 months. I'm now walking much better, have almost no pain in my left knee, and even back to playing hockey which I haven't been able to do since the original accident.

Good luck with your recovery and make sure you do the physical therapy 100%, it can make or break the end result.

Yes and I'm using it but I haven't noticed much of a difference. I have had really bad swelling. Couple that with a nurse one shift that wouldn't give me pain meds but every 4 hours and I have had to play catch-up to get the pain under control. Much better off now and they said my range of motion was already really good
