  • Camping in Oklahoma

We are heading up to Stillwater next week for a nieces graduation and going to use the time to camp with the kids as well. It will be a short 2 day stay with little ones that are 7 and 8 years old.

Any good camping recommendations anywhere between here and Stillwater?

It may be too cold for them to swim still so fishing would be a plus.

I was looking at Chickasaw National Recreation Area and fishing the Lake of the Arbuckles.

The Chickasaw Nation Area, Sulphir, and Arbuckle is all a cool area. We don’t camp but I get a lot of Comped rooms at the Artesian Casino “Resort” in Sulphuric. We always cruise through the park at some point.

This has been the only place I've really camped at in Oklahoma and I am actually heading up there in a few weeks. Been camping in the same spot there on and off for the past maybe 7 or 8 years; since whenever they had the fires at Possum Kingdom Lake and they closed the state park because of it. Nice enough parks, pretty quiet. Let me know if you are interested and I can give you more details.

What sort of camping do you do?

I used to SCUBA dive in Lake Tenkiller but,
it is a little out of the way to the East.

Turner Falls is nice but damn is it expensive. They ding you for daily passes for every single person, a daily rate for each vehicle and a daily rate for the campsite.

                            x3 on Lake Murray.

Spent last weekend at Elephant Rock campground and was a terrific place to stay. 25 mile past OK border and every site that I saw with 50a and sewer hookups as good as any comparable site you find in Texas.
