It's well established on this site that it's OK to steal as long as it's from a corporation everyone hates.

Shit, it's well established on this site that we tolerate known thieves of other people's property.

I say find a phone number, call said phone number and try to get a person. If you can't well then set the money aside for a while. If nothing comes of it, donate it.

Walmart would have found the mistake by the end of the day or withing 24 hours. The only people who get in trouble for being short is the cashiers or anyone with a till.

They have already wrote it off as shrinkage. Id try and call them and tell them what happened. They will take your money and move on. It was my first place of employment for 7-8 years so i say if they give you and shit.

                Fuck them.

I would give it back and add $400 more of my own money, for good karma.

my wife got a rain check on a black friday truck for our son that was $100-150. I went up to walmart to get it, they rolled out this $350-400 Ford Raptor. I knew it was the wrong truck and told the employee there is a mistake. The employee insisted it is what we are supposed to get.

I gave them fair warning and they didn't listen. It's been rolling around my backyard for 3 years now.

This was exactly my stance on it. Try to set things right but don't waste too much energy because most likely no one there cares.

Another here echoing to reach out to Walmart (in person or by phone) and explain what happened. I wouldn't take it back as it's something you wanted and are using, but just offer to re-pay somehow. You should still have the original order form and invoice #.
