      • It also looks remarkably similar to an Arisaka.

        • Functionally it is very different and somewhat unique.

It is a cock on open rifle with rear locking lugs akin to a MAS 36 rifle. The receiver is not fully bridged and employs a split bridge as a result of the rear lugs. The rifle is push feed with a safety that simply locks the cocking piece to the rear with a quick flip (like a flag type but with one setting). Also, the bolt handle doubles as the safety lug rather than their being an inner lug akin to a Mauser or Mauser derivative. Its selling points were its light weight (it was marketed as "The Madsen Lightweight Military Rifle) and compactness.

            • Not sure. I need to weigh it, but for a rifle firing 30 cal it is quite light. It is not as light as 6mm military bolt guns (specifically carbines), but it is as handy and slim.

              • That seems to be in excellent shape if it's all original.

                • It is. Colombia was the only buyer and bought 5,000 of them. However, no evidence exists that they ever actually issued them.

They failed because after WWII there was a bottomless surplus of practically free armaments left over from the conflict, and as a general issue military arm, bolt actions were obsolete. The late 40s saw guns like the FN49, SKS, MAS49, etc proliferating as well, eclipsing bolt guns.

                    • I had two out of battery detonations within the first 50 rounds. That was a bit scary but after that it has ran perfect. I think this was my fault though as the epoxy I used to fill the charging handle cavity was rubbing on the bolt. Also for some reason it did not like CCI, but ran both remington golden bullet and federal bulk fine.

The only advantage I see to the 4.5" barrel is you can avoid the small spacer/adapter needed to bring the suppressor out past the handguard enough to remove easily. If you have a longer suppressor or shorter handguard this may not be an issue though.

Speaking of the handguard... Do you have any tools to remove about 1/4 inch from the barrel end of the hand guard? My suppressor sits just a little to low and makes it a pain to get it off. It's a 7.5" upper and the handguad stops about .5" short of the flash hider.

                        • I think the best way to do that would be a lathe which I don't have access to right now. I considered having it done to mine but the spacing of the holes don't allow for a smooth cut.

I used this problem as my justification for a second 22 suppressor. I just leave one on there the whole time.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.
