And the plot, kinda of thickens...

lol, what are the odds that I get the one Pep Boys A/C tech that is on DFWMustangs.

I appreciate the work you did, I have A/C now.

If it starts to get weak again, i'll degrease and get a UV flashlight.

Did you leave any UV dye in the system at all?

This car has a very basic a/c system, you wouldn't gain anything at all by going to a specialist. In fact you'd probably end up paying more and getting a much shorter warranty that's only good at that specific shop.

I probably wouldn't take a high end German car to Pep Boys for work or a generic a/c shop for that matter but for regular every day cars like an old Corolla I wouldn't have any problems going to them.

What im wondering is how there is dye everywhere under the hood of it? We use a pag oil that has dye in it so we can see any leaks in the system in the future but someone did something to that system as just the dye alone under the hood probably accounts for a few oz of oil. I dont know if the writer told you but there is dye absolutely everywhere which threw me for a loop. I always dump the old compressor oil out and put the same amount back into the new compressor so when it left a few months ago the oil charge was correct as it could be. All ac systems I do get a good vacuum period. Im wondering if there is a leak in the system and they just did a quickfill with a can before selling it instead of bringing it back to us to see what might be leaking. You said you put a can in it but it was only slightly overcharged so theres probably a leak somewhere but you need to degrease the underhood to have a chance to find it. I was the one that did the initial work and looked at it yesterday.I do specialize in ac repair and diagnostics and can tell you that car did not leave with the ac barely working a few months ago.

Unless a new part failed, one of the pressure hoses exploded, or a dipshit mechanic got a hold of it, you screwed up. A system with a new compressor, drier, and condenser shouldn't be leaking after a few months.

Yes there is still dye in the system, the oil is laced with it so there is no way to get it out unless you flush the system. Well JC316 i can tell you i didnt screw up as it doesnt appear any o rings are leaking so there is that. Im kinda thinking the condensor is leaking from one of the end caps but as it literally looks like someone spray painted the engine with dye its kinda hard to say for sure. I did clean the spot really good where i had suspicions of it leaking and looked at if for awhile but never got anything to show up. The spot is on the passenger side upper end cap if you have a uv light handy some day but the way the dye is covering things doesnt make sense. You have dye on the front of the condensor on the passenger side but none on the radiator core or fan blade, then the engine is covered in it. That oil shine on the intake and engine cover is nothing but dye. It didnt make sense

That's why I'm thinking one of the hoses might have exploded. Did it on two different Fbodies that I had and both times it soaked the engine bay with oil. Only time I've ever seen that happen.

Guess thats possible but i would think she wouldve brought it back to us since we just did the ac a few mos ago. I know i would raise hell personally myself if i were in that situation where i just dropped alot of money to have something fixed and something catastrophically failed but who knows.
