  • Code P0133

My 2001 Ranger with 160K miles is giving a code P0133- Upstream Oxygen Sensor circuit slow response - time for a new pre cat O2 sensor?

Not sure it's salvageable. $350 to drag it off.

Actually, other than an occasional slight hiccup during tip in throttle response, it runs quite good.

Yep, time for an 02 sensor.

If it's a v-6, I recommend replacing both upstreams. The one throwing the code has a slow response time. When you replace it, the response time will be quick but the other bank will have slower times because of age. Thus setting a slow response code for that bank. I'd clean the Maf as well if you haven't and pull the battery cable for at least 10 minutes to reset the keep alive memory and the fuel adaptives.

Finally changed the O2 sensor. Made a BIG difference, much smoother, a little more power & picked up 2 miles per gallon.
