  • Fuel for the fire

Today I went and cut down a tree so I would have some wood to smoke with. The tree had been dead for about 6 months and was still standing so all of the wood was of great quality and already aged. Now I really don't have an excuse why the smoker isn't fired up at least once a week.

Next week I plan on cutting down a mesquite tree and I also have access to a pecan orchard that I'm going to hit up.

Not to mention, just because it's been dead for 6 months doesn't make it seasoned. That stuff isn't going to burn. Which is why I said good luck.

Same goes for what you plan to cut down. Needs to sit (cut and split) for AT MINIMUM one season, but really, needs to sit for a year.

What's in the back of your truck is what you will be using next year. Now you need to go find something for this year.
I'm just now starting to get into wood I cut up 2 years ago.

I try to get firewood for following year. Last year was hard being my 1st year at house. Lot of wood was still green. This year though, I have plenty for this winter ready to go. I already have a good stack going for next year. Friend of mine cuts trees down on the side and I go pick up the wood. Inlaw lives by the lake and he has tons of trees out there that I go pick up. I plan on getting me a log splitter.

Who the fuck uses wood chips in a bag, amateur? I notice you had to get it hot as fuck for it to burn. You want to be a smartass, you might want to know what the fuck you're doing first. Stick to your Thomas the Train set.

Bitch please. Post a pic of that pit you use. I have aluminum foil in my pantry that is thicker than the walls of your pit lol.

Green wood smokes a lot more than seasoned wood, which can over smoke what your bbq. Also, it doesn't burn as hot. You can still do it, but I would try to get seasoned wood for cooking or burning.
