  • The simplicity of oatmeal.....

My wife makes the best damn oatmeal in the world!

She uses apple juice instead of water, and adds cut apple pieces and raisens to the juice. She brings it to a boil and lets the apples and raisens soften, then adds brown sugar, cinnamon and a touch of vanilla. She adds the oatmeal (old fashioned, not instant) and cooks it to where it is done, but not soft.

She then adds real butter to make the consistency stick (so it doesn't soften).

I could eat that shit every day.

        sounds like desert!!!!

I do rolled oats w/ water. A tablespoon of flax seed oil w/ a touch of lemon, some sea salt (the combination of the flax seed oil and salt tastes like butter! ) and a light amount of agave nectar

That is a shit ton of sugars.

I will have to stay away from that recipe.

Sounds pretty good, minus the butter and the sugar content!
I dang sure wouldn't eat it daily.

I prefer oats and XF cinnamon roll protein with a dash of cinnamon.

Will the sugar from the apple juice cook out?

I was more so referring to the brown sugar that his wife puts in it.

Sugars don't cook out. Period. When you sautee with brandy, wine, etc - that's what you're doing - reducing the liquid to sugars.

Yea, after I posted and thought a bit, I realized that very fact.

I just don't cook too often with brandy or wine.

You should. Good stuff. Wine reductions kick ass.
