Long story short..

Have a private youtube I upload videos of the kids to for grandparents to watch, 99% unlisted or private videos

Uploaded 15 second clip of my 5 year old playing baseball made it public Went to 15,000 views. Uploaded another video, went to 35,000 views. Uploaded another video went to 54,000 views. A 4th video just uploaded and it is getting a few thousand an hour now.

All are shorter than 15 seconds
all are unimpressive - just 2 at bats and 2 running bases with just "gator baseball" as titles

how did these videos sky rocket on 4 consecutive days like this? These are my ONLY public videos - not named anything special or any special content in them

I need an explanation on how I am getting on "recommended for you" or youtubes main short story page for these things.

the algorithm has found something about your clips that it likes. its putting you high up on the recommended list. so its coming up as an auto next video on peoples player. I need to figure out what you did. lol

This. If you get featured, your views skyrocket. My sister had a boring video of playing with my Rottweiler, sucker went over a million views in a few weeks. No clue why.

I wonder if someone who "knows" could break down the videos and figure out what they have in common to end up on the main page and "recommended for you" sections.

My page is NOTHING, there were 4 or 5 videos on it that were public and they all had under 10 views each prior to this....

One of the comments says they got a notification for the video, which I thought only happens when you subscribe and click the notification bell. Maybe something goofed up on the youtube side? You could definitely use this to your advantage! lol

Try uploading a few longer videos and see what happens.

I wonder if the length of the video is the advantage? People are watching it all the way through a few times?

I don't understand YT's algos

I document in a 7 part series the full rebuild of my 2014 Scion tC from Copart, like...maybe 250 views across all videos.

Guess people's attention spans are just super short now adays.

Yeah, reading through that part of the TOS changes was a nightmare. Fortunately, none of my shit can even remotely be considered to be aimed at children. All of my videos are mechanic how to's or car reviews.
