This will be a long, slow build thread. Now that my Denny Hamlin build is about to finish up its show circuit, it is time to start on next years detailed build.
This will be my first Aoshima kit, my first sponsored race car that is not NASCAR. They pose unique challenges when competing for Best of Show awards. It is hard to get a high mark for paint quality due to the decals. Though, I feel the opportunity for detail out weighs the down sides.
I am starting with the Aoshima kit, it has cartograf printed decals, which are some of the best quality in the hobby world. I will be using several different "detail up" kits. Aoshima's photo etch set, Hobby Design's detail up set, and a plethora of Scale Motorsport CF decals. I use 1/20th scale decals so the pattern shows up better. I may also add in the Hobby Design brake/wheel detail set if the kit wheels need work.
Paint will be Gravity Colors and my first time to use their products. After extensive refence photo searches, I found that theblower color is not black, it is a very dark brown, which is where Gravity Colors comes in. They have a couple of Lamborghini brown's, I chose the darker and picked up a bottle of black in case I need to darken it.
This build will be highlighted on my Facebook page with build photos, tips, and videos.
