  • New cleaning rods

I got 2 carbon cleaning rod yesterday in the mail.
    Today I tried them out.

    WOW

The patches came out clean for a change.

Must have been the aluminum rods I had been using that was leaving crude in the barrel.

If your doing it correctly there should be no circumstance that a cleaning rod is leaving a residue in the bore. If you're doing it wrong nothing is more damaging to the bore of a rifle then the cleaning rod.
Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

The man has a point. All I've ever had are AL rods, my patches are just fine when the bore is clean.

What are you using to hold the patches? A jag or a loop?

If you're running the rod straight down the barrel, without direct contact on the barrel, How could an aluminum rod leave residue that a carbon rod wouldn't?
