Physicist Stephen Hawking dies aged 76

The Briton was known for his groundbreaking work with black holes and relativity, and was the author of several popular science books including A Brief History of Time.

His children, Lucy, Robert and Tim, said: "We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today.

"He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years."

Sad to see such an influential person pass...although him living to 76 was and is a miracle. People with his level of genius don't come along very often. RIP

I didn't realize he was 76, but I knew he survived well past his original diagnosis and assumed lifespan. He was very active in the public eye and it will be odd not seeing him around anymore. We lost an amazing mind. Always wondered if he was so good with physics beause he had nothing else to do but read, like maybe his disease was a disguised blessing.
