  • Metal fab porn: Celica GT4 driveline/suspension in original Mini

Found this YouTube channel yesterday and stayed up til 2:00 this morning to watch all of the episodes.

Two funny Brits (Monty Python meets Airplane type humor) who do absolutely amazing work fabricating pretty much everything but the roof for this little mini in a quest to put the engine and suspension from a 90's AWD Celica GT4 into this little crapcan and turning it into a work of art.

The first video is from 2013 and they're still not done with it, but there's so much skill and humor, I'll be following these chaps until this thing is done.

They really are. That level of make-something-out-of-nothing fabrication is really inspiring.

Been watching since the beginning. Episode 14 just came out a few days ago. I get discouraged about re-wiring my car and those guys make me feel like total shit...

I just watched every one. The amount of time that takes is staggering. It was well thought out though.

Glad you guys are digging it.

Now, unfortunately for anyone that's caught up, the long wait between episodes begins.

There is almost none of the original mini left. At that point why not just graft a mini body on top of the Celica chassis?

Thanks for updating the thread! Watched it last night and it continues to be a clinic on fabrication.

Because this is way cooler! Also, considering how different the two cars are, I don't know that it would be any less work to do it the way you're suggesting.

I love it. I am on episode 4 right now but if my internet will hold up, I plan on binge watching through to the end.

Their tool building out of necessity and their ingenuity amazes me.
                          The rotating rack is tits
The hinges for the front end is a master piece of simplicity
The wing guides and centering bushing are genius
The latch mechanism and window regulators fit into that tiny ass door
The punch tool and the step by step of getting the louvers exact in the scuttle panel

Only as far as I have gotten...episode 9 so far
