  • Inherited a truck that hasn't ran in 4 years Help!!

I know I need to replace the fuel pumps on it (it has 2 tanks)
    New Gas
    Change Oil and Filter
    New Fuel filter
    New Air Filter
    Check all fluid levels
New tires as 1 is flat and Dry Rotted

What else do I need to do before firing her up?

    Trans Service and Flush?
    Diff Flush?
Any fuses to look at maybe being bad?

    This is on a 94 F-150 regular cab with a 5.0 motor.

Are the pumps dead? Why change them if they arent?

Other than the stuff listed, put a couple squirts of oil/trans fluid in the cyls to lube the rings.

X2 on the cylinder lube. Turn the motor over by hand a few times... After lubing the cylinders.

Also do a through brake system inspection before you hit the road. Look for dry rotted hoses and frozen calipers/wheel cylinders. I would also flush the old brake fluid out.

          I'd prime the oil pump.

I would change the spark plugs too.

Put 1/2 can of trans-x in the tranny.

I'd also lube up all the weather stripping and adjust the mirrors.

I'd check the air pressure in the tires, charge up the battery...oh and make sure it has gas in it too.

Pull the fuel lines loose and blow through them with an air hose.
Fuel filter, as stated. Air filter, as stated.
New distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, plug wires.
Drain ALL fluids and replace. Antifreeze, engine oil and filter, brake fluid, trans fluid and filter, rear differential fluid, blinker fluid.
Squirt some oil in the spark plug holes when you pull the plugs, as stated.
I wouldn't worry about the fuel pumps just yet.

I'll try to think of what else you may need to do, but that should get you close to start out with.
