I might pick up another set in the different texture they offer and in a different color.
Do you carry this at all? If so, how do the grips do with sticking to a shirt while concealed or trying to clear?

    Also, picture thread:
Already have a blued 6" 586 no dash but it is a little rougher looking than this example. This just arrived yesterday.

Yup, I carry daily (which is one of the reasons why the Kimber had gotten so bad with the finish ). I have no problems with any of the grips sticking to the shirt although I will say that the VZ Operator II's that I had on the Kimber (sold them and not pictured) were pretty agressive when making a presentation. The Simmonich Gunners (sp?) are about right as far as the texturing for me.

The Magpul's are just about right. Haven't tried them with wet hands or gloves but I don't think they will be a problem.

perhaps I missed it but, how long did you carry that Kimber before the finish got that way?

I've owned it since 2004. It's a part of my regular rotation and I've carried it on and off pretty much the whole time between an Comp-Tac CTAC and now MTAC and a Comp-Tac Locking Paddle Holster. So it's gotten a lot of Kydex wear, sweat when I take it camping and hiking with me, and generally poor maintenance on my part with no cleaning it off quickly and regularly enough.

That being said, I've owned 4 Kimber's, this Custom Carry II and three Ultra Carry's one of which was stainless steel (I no longer have any of the UC's). The two that I owned the longest had problems with the finish. I think it's typical Kimber quality on the finish IMO.

          • And just as a heads up, I originally ordered the Magpul grips directly from Magpul and just looked them up on Midway and they are on sale for $15.99 compared to the $19.95 I paid.

That's generally the case for companies that sell their products both directly and through retailers. Selling direct to you is more expensive for Magpul than selling a ton to a wholesaler.

I can't remember exactly why I bought directly from Magpul, I think I picked up a few small items that were being discounted at the time.

                        • I know it's just a Glock but I carry this a lot when I go camping (and sometimes switch to a 10mm barrel depending on where I'm at). Always felt the grips were just a tad to big so I went ahead and had it reduced, stipplled, had the trigger guard undercut, and the finger groves removed.

                            • kingjason turned me onto this guy on Facebook. Not sure if he's pricey or not ($300 for everything) but I thought the quality was pretty good as well as the turnaround (about a month). Only downsize is that he's in Hillsoboro so it was about an hour drive for me each way.
